Eclectic coastal vibes, retro accents, and personal touches make this modern coastal boys nursery truly one-of-a-kind. From the globe chandelier to the spindle crib and colorful art, this is a nursery designed to feel fresh, fun, and full of personality.

My name is Megan, and I work behind the scenes with Peggy, supporting her while she brings her incredible designs to life. My husband and I moved into our first home a few months ago, shortly after welcoming our son. While we’re so thankful to have a brand-new home, it came with a lot of white, blank walls and lacked the charm we dreamed of. Over the past few months, we’ve been slowly adding character to each room, including the nursery, which I’m so excited to share with you!

Designing this modern coastal boys nursery for our son was a challenge because, let’s face it, a baby doesn’t have hobbies or interests yet. My husband and I aren’t fans of themes, so we decided to create a space that feels personal and fun. We went a bit maximalist with art since wallpaper wasn’t in the budget, and it was a great way to add personality.

We decided to place the crib in the center of the bedroom to make the best use of the space. By doing this, we were able to fit a glider while also preventing the room feeling cramped with all of the furniture pushed against the walls. Giving the crib it’s own moment, grounded by a playful blue rug, ended up being one of my favorite things in the room!

We were able to repurpose several items from around the house, like this wool throw blanket. We also received some wonderful gifts, including the glider, books, and (many) stuffed animals that serve the perfect double life as decor.

One of my favorite parts of the room is the inclusion of the aviator jacket that was originally gifted to my cousin from my grandpa. He has built and flown planes for as long as I can remember (and still does!), and this jacket has been passed down for almost three decades. Incorporating it into the nursery means the world to me, and it’s such a special, meaningful detail.

Paint Color

The wall color, Pigeon by Farrow & Ball, is another standout in the room. After researching endlessly, I found that everyone praised it for being a chameleon color, and they weren’t wrong! It adds such depth and personality to the space.
