This Denver home’s modern rustic home office was designed to be both high-functioning and deeply calming. Located in a sunny corner of Project Rustic Contemporary, the office blends earthy tones, organic texture, and strong silhouettes to create a thoughtful, stylish place to work—and unwind.
We paired warm wood tones with sleek black metal and soft textiles to strike that just-right balance between rustic and refined. The geometric striped area rug brings subtle pattern and softness underfoot, while the mix of wood and metal desks keeps the room from feeling too uniform or expected. Kader Boly’s dynamic artwork adds soul and movement, anchoring the design with a lived-in, collected feel.

Two workstations provide flexibility for productivity, while the vintage-inspired leather lounge chair offers a cozy spot to think, read, or take a well-earned break. The overall palette of warm neutrals is quiet but layered—so even when the to-do list is long, the space stays serene.
This modern rustic home office is a reminder that workspaces don’t have to be sterile or utilitarian. With the right materials, lighting, and layout, your office can feel like an extension of the home—rooted in comfort, layered in beauty.

Because details make the room, we also considered how doors and trim support the mood. As Peggy shared with Livingetc, for the article, Should Doors and Trim be the Same Color? In 2025, Here’s What Designers Are Doing: “Trim and doors are no longer an afterthought; they’re a design opportunity.” Here, we leaned into that idea with color drenching the entire room in Light French Gray by Sherwin Williams. We even used it on the bookshelf millwork to match the walls, ceiling, and baseboards—a bolder, architectural accent that adds definition without overwhelming the room.
Peggy put it perfectly in the same piece: “I just finished a project where the walls and trim were a warm off-white, and just the doors were the most perfect warm gray. The contrast added subtle interest while still feeling soft and classic.” That’s our approach here too—walls and trim in Simply White by Benjamin Moore for softness, paired with the office doors in Amherst Gray by Benjamin Moore for that quiet, tailored contrast.
