Those in their 20s and late 30s have embraced a contemporary spin on traditional design, coining it the ‘Grandmillennial’ design style. What are the elements of the Grandmillennial style you ask? Gabby Home summarizes it well, “Popular Grandmillennial accents and accessories include pleated lampshades, botanical prints, monogrammed linens, and classic wallpaper. Furnishings often showcase traditional design elements, like tufting, skirting, cane or wicker detailing. Antiques are also essential to this well-collected aesthetic.” Have you been dreaming about a grandmillennial family room, this is the post for you!
We have already shared the formal living room for this project, today’s design is the ‘family room’. It is right off the kitchen and had some unique challenges. The shape of the room is very long and narrow, and because of an addition done years ago, you have to walk through it to get to the kitchen (from any other room in the house). To solve this design dilemma, we created two separate seating areas. We also made sure the rug could withstand a lot of foot traffic, as our clients have three small children.
